Project Overview

Most underground parking garages currently suffer from inherent ventilation deficiencies: large areas with poor air circulation, exhaust emissions from vehicles, and accumulated dust and pollutants over time. These issues lead to noticeable odors, excessively high temperatures during summer (exceeding 36°C in some localized areas), negatively impacting drivers' parking experience and increasing the workload of maintenance personnel. Moreover, the enclosed, humid environment accelerates the aging of building structures and pipelines, raising long-term maintenance costs. Therefore, a ventilation and cooling retrofit for the underground parking garage is urgently needed.

This project is located in the underground parking garage of a commercial plaza in Fuzhou. The building is a multi-story concrete structure. The retrofit targets localized problems such as high temperatures, poor ventilation, and strong odors. Traditional central air conditioning solutions consume excessive energy for large, semi-enclosed underground spaces. Evaporative cooling technology is adopted as the solution, as it simultaneously provides ventilation, cooling, and odor removal, offering significant advantages in low energy consumption, adaptability, and cost-effectiveness.

Operation Mode

The project adopts a customized combination solution of "Aolan evaporative air coolers + induced draft fans" to achieve comprehensive environmental optimization. The design includes 51 Aolan evaporative air coolers (equipped with a computer control system), precisely positioned to cover localized high-temperature areas on each floor, delivering cool air for targeted cooling. Induced draft fans are arranged to enhance forced air circulation within the garage, accelerating air exchange and rapidly expelling hot air, exhaust fumes, and dust. The intelligent coordinated operation of the two types of equipment enables precise temperature control in localized hot spots while improving overall air mobility, fully meeting the client's dual requirements of "localized cooling and quality improvement + overall air quality optimization."

Project Significance

After the project was put into operation, the environmental improvement has been significant. During summer operations, the temperature in the previously problematic localized high-temperature areas of the parking garage has been stably controlled below 32°C, completely resolving the issue of localized stuffiness and high heat. The parking comfort for vehicle owners and the working environment for maintenance personnel have both been markedly improved, achieving the expected goals.
